Choosing an Earnings Plan

Your earnings plan sets two things at once: how much of every trip you keep, and how much of a damage claim comes out of your pocket. Here's how to pick.

Prelaunch: Live trips are not open yet. These figures reflect the current launch configuration and may change before bookings open. The terms presented for a trip will govern it.

The three plans

Every vehicle gets its own earnings plan, so different vehicles in one fleet can use different plans:

PlanYour share of trip priceAfto's commissionYour damage responsibility per claim
Max Protection75%25%$875
Balanced85%15%$2,125
Max Earnings93%7%$3,250

"Damage responsibility" is the portion of an eligible claim assigned to the host under each plan. A lower number is the safer financial position. Max Protection trades some of your earnings share for the lowest figure; Max Earnings pays you the most per trip but assigns more of an eligible claim to your side. These figures are not insurance limits or guarantees. The plan terms and insurance disclosure presented for a trip govern.

The published host share applies to the adjusted trip price. Extras currently pay the host a separate 90% share, and delivery is handled as its own line.

The tradeoff, plainly

Think of it as a dial between earnings and protection, not a "best" and "worst" option:

  • Max Protection (75%) is the conservative choice. You give up 18 points of share versus Max Earnings, with a host damage-responsibility figure of $875 per eligible claim under the applicable terms.
  • Balanced (85%) splits the difference — a solid middle ground for most hosts once they've got a trip or two under their belt.
  • Max Earnings (93%) pays the most per trip, with a host damage-responsibility figure of $3,250 per eligible claim under the applicable terms.

Who should pick which

There's no universally "right" plan — it depends on your car, your risk tolerance, and how much cash cushion you want on hand.

  • New to hosting, or hosting an expensive/hard-to-repair car? Start with Max Protection. Its $875 host damage-responsibility figure is the lowest of the three options, subject to the applicable terms, even at a lower share.
  • A few trips in, comfortable with your screening and your car's value? Balanced is a reasonable default for most hosts — a meaningfully higher share with exposure that's still manageable if a claim does come through.
  • Experienced host, confident in your operating process, and able to absorb the $3,250 host damage-responsibility figure under the applicable terms? Max Earnings gets you the most out of every trip.

Your history on the platform, your car's replacement/repair cost, and your own comfort with risk all matter more than any one-size-fits-all rule.

Changing your plan

You can change the earnings plan while the vehicle's listing settings are editable. The plan is pinned when the trip is booked, not when it starts. Changing the vehicle later does not alter a trip that is already booked; the new selection applies to later bookings.

Always review the plan snapshot shown on the trip rather than assuming the vehicle's current setting governs an older reservation.

How this connects to claims

The plan snapshot determines the host damage-responsibility figure used when an eligible claim is evaluated. It does not guarantee claim approval or a fixed resolution date. The claim workspace shows its current status and applicable deadlines; see Claims SLA: What to Expect and Filing a Damage Claim (Host).
